I teach four subject courses to second year and final year undergraduates (‘The Histories of Latin America’s Indigenous Peoples’, ‘Chilean Culture and Society, 1907-2007’, ‘Novels, Poetry and Politics in Twentieth-Century Latin America’ and ‘The Indian in the Latin American Novel’) and I contribute several lectures and seminars to the first year survey unit ‘Introduction to the Literature and History of Spain and Latin America.’

 

I direct a unit for the Modern Languages Masters programme entitled ‘Contested Territories and Identities: The Contemporary and Historical Struggles of Indigenous Peoples,’ and I contribute to the core units of the Masters in Latin American History.

 

I currently supervise 5 PhD students. Their research subjects are: 1) Mapuche ethno-tourism in southern Chile; 2) Education in post-independence Chile; 3) Travel writing in modern Peru; 4) Memories and testimonial narratives in post-conflict Peru; 5) The use of samba music in Brazilian film.
